Central Avenue in Marshfield to close for holiday parade this evening

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Central Avenue in Marshfield will be closed from Veterans Parkway to 11th Street from 3 p.m. on  Thursday, December 5, for the downtown holiday parade. It will reopen shortly after the parade is over.

City parking lots are located along Maple Ave., and Chestnut Ave. (West 2nd Street will be closed from Central Avenue to Spruce Avenue to allow for a float lineup, with auxiliary letting traffic through on Chestnut Avenue.)  North and southbound traffic will be detoured utilizing Veterans Parkway, Oak Avenue, and W. 11th Street. All parking lot and driveway access along South Central Avenue will be closed.

The City of Marshfield invites everyone to grab a warm beverage from a local business and bring a warm blanket and a lawn chair for the parade, which starts at 6:30 p.m.

Following the parade, enjoy the plaza tree lighting. Sing ‘O Christmas Tree’ with family and friends, warm up by the bonfire, and enjoy complimentary cocoa and s’mores.

If you cannot attend the parade in person, the City’s Marshfield Broadcasting Division and its volunteers will broadcast it live on Charter Channel 990 (Marshfield NOW! Channel). Streaming on www.marshfieldbroadcasting.comFacebook, ROKU, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV  apps are also available.

The local non-profit Main Street Marshfield organizes the event.
