The Chippewa Falls City Council approved this week a permit for Notre Dame Catholic Church to add two tiny homes for the Hope Village project.

Hope Village is a nonprofit founded in 2016 after the city’s homeless shelter closed in 2014. Tiny homes are placed at local churches and aim to help those suffering homelessness in Chippewa County get back on their feet.

Each house costs about $5,000 and is built by volunteers. Eventually Hope Village will consist of 12 homes around a common building, according to the website.
