MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Central Chamber Chorale, a Central Wisconsin group of singers in its 52nd Season, will be presenting a wide range of choral literature tracing from the Renaissance period through the present day. From Palestrina’s “Sicut Cervus” to Schubert’s art song “An Die Musik,” to the Irish ballad “Danny Boy” and Eric Whitacre’s captivatingly dissonant “Water Night,” take a journey through the last five centuries of music, as expressed by some of the most popular choral composers. The Chorale will perform Saturday, November 11th at 7:30 p.m.at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church 400 N. 2nd Ave. Abbotsford and Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. November 12th at First Presbyterian Church 200 S. Lincoln Ave, Marshfield.
Mozart’s stately hymn setting of “Ave Verum Corpus” is in memory of Dr. Jerry Hagman who passed shortly before our spring, 2023 concert. Jerry was one of the original Central Chamber Chorale singers 50 years ago. Jerry is remembered for his musical talent, his dedication to our choral literature tradition and his sharp sense of humor at rehearsals.
The concerts are open to the public without charge. The Chorale is under the direction of Hana Worsham, who chose the wonderful selection of music, and Tiffany Leffel is the Chorale’s talented accompanist.
