MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – As the holiday season comes to an end, Marshfield residents may be wondering what to do with their Christmas trees. The City of Marshfield does not offer curbside collection of Christmas trees. However, there is a convenient option for disposal available to curbside residential customers.

The City encourages residents to utilize the compost site located at 18th Street and Hume Avenue in Marshfield. This site is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing flexibility for individuals to drop off yard waste, brush, and Christmas trees at their convenience.

You may also choose to donate your tree to Wildwood Zoo, which uses them for animal enrichment.

Preparing Your Tree for Drop-Off

To ensure proper disposal, please follow these guidelines:

  • Remove all decorations: Be sure to take off ornaments, tinsel, lights, and tree stands before dropping off your tree.
  • No artificial trees: The compost site only accepts natural Christmas trees. Artificial trees should be disposed of through appropriate waste or recycling channels.
  • Bundle and transport safely: Secure your tree during transport to prevent debris from littering roadways.

For more information about Marshfield’s compost site or other waste management services, visit City of Marshfield’s website or contact the public works department directly.
