City of Marshfield Finance, Budget, and Personnel Meeting to Review Request for Pickleball Court Project Funding
MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – The City of Marshfield will discuss a funding request at the Finance, Budget, and Personnel meeting on Tuesday, January 16, aiming to allocate $50,000 for the development of pickleball courts at Braem Park. Tom Buttke, a member of the Economic Development Board, is presenting the proposal, seeking Council approval for Budget Resolution 01-2024.
The Economic Development Board unanimously approved a motion on January 4th to transfer $50,000 from the City’s Fund 205, designated for economic development, to support the pickleball court project with a total estimated cost of $300,000.
Progress has been made in the fundraising effort, with contributions from various sources:
- The City committed $140,000 through borrowing (Capital Improvement Plan – CIP).
- An additional $10,000 from room tax funding.
- Wood County awarded a $25,000 grant.
- The Marshfield Area Community Foundation granted $10,000.
The City previously authorized a private fundraising campaign, with the group actively working to secure the remaining funds needed for the project.
This funding request is an investment in recreational facilities and a commitment to the well-being of Marshfield residents. The Finance, Budget, and Personnel meeting provide an opportunity for stakeholders to voice their support and insights.
All interested parties and community members are encouraged to attend the meeting to contribute to the discussion.
