Marshfield Fire & Rescue has been receiving a lot of questions related to campfires and recreational fires in the City of Marshfield.

“Even though the DNR has banned all burning permits in the State of Wisconsin, it is for DNR fire protection areas and the City of Marshfield is not in that fire protection area,” they explained. “As of right now, we still allow these types of fires in accordance with the ordinance however, depending on future conditions these recreational fires may be suspended for safety purposes. The section of the ordinance pertaining to this topic is below.”

The department said that if you are a resident outside of the City of Marshfield to please contact your township/village fire department or elected officials to inquire about their burning restrictions/permissions.

For questions, call the Department’s non-emergency number at 715.486.2094. Check out our Recreational Fire Safety Reminders & Rules.
