MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – The City Clerk and staff are prepping for the upcoming election cycle in 2024, which will be a big one culminating with the Presidential Election on Tuesday, November 5.

The Spring Election on April 2 will bring the Presidential Preference along with plenty of state and local races. But before that can happen, Marshfield will have a Primary Election on Tuesday, February 20, which will narrow down the field of Marshfield’s School Board candidates from seven to six.

There are no candidates on the ballot for Common Council or Mayor in this primary. Residents who are interested in voting earlier can vote in-person absentee in the City Clerk’s Office beginning on Tuesday, February 6 at City Hall, 207 W. 6th Street, Marshfield, WI. Voting hours will be Tuesday, February 6 through Friday, February 16, during regular City Hall hours, which are Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 7:30 a.m. – Noon. Absentee ballots will be mailed on Tuesday, January 30 for any requests currently on file. Absentee ballots may be requested at myvote.wi.gov or by e-mailing [email protected].

Ballots can be mailed until Thursday, February 15. All ballots must be returned by the close of polls on Election Day to be counted. Right now, is also the perfect time to register to vote. Residents who have moved or changed their name or address will need to update their registration information.

The fastest and easiest way to do this is by visiting myvote.wi.gov to update their registration. The last day to register to vote online is Wednesday, January 31. After that, voters may register at the City Clerk’s Office or at the polls on Election Day. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to the City Clerk’s Office at 715-384-3636 Per state law, no election activities, including registering to vote, may occur on Monday, February 19.
