MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – On January 24th, the City of Marshfield Common Council authorized staff to enter into a contract with Mueller Communications (based in Milwaukee, WI) for professional services related to conducting a public education campaign in connection with the April 4th referendum for public safety funding.

After passing a City of Marshfield budget that took away from public safety funding, Council began referendum discussions to make up the shortfall. The referendum will appear on the April ballot.

The contract price is $43,945; with City staff recommending a $45,000 budget to cover any ancillary costs. There are no 2023 budget funds for this purpose, as the project (referendum) was not contemplated at the time that the recommended 2023 budget was prepared.

If approved at the February 14 meeting, $45,000 will be moved from the City’s Contingency account to cover these project expenses.

Update: The motion was approved.
