La Crosse (OnFocus) – The decision by the La Crosse School District to move football at Logan and Central High Schools to the spring has caused a group to try and fill the void for La Crosse area student athletes.

As originally reported in the La Crosse Tribune, the LAX Bandits, a club sports team, is looking at forming as an option for football players in La Crosse this fall.

The coach of the group is Matt Thornton, who has said the group has begun preliminary steps in securing a schedule for the fall.  The group has the blessing of the WIAA, and as long as the team has high school age players and they meet WIAA eligibility guidelines, may schedule WIAA school teams.

For now, the idea is in its infancy, and several hurdles remain. One is securing equipment, and another is building a schedule.

This story is developing and will be updated as more information becomes available.
