Cochrane-Fountain City holds on to win the Division 5 State Championship, downing Sheboygan Lutheran 60-54
Sheboygan Lutheran would get the early lead, but the Pirates of C-FC would claw back and take the lead with 8:41 to go in the first, and never give it back.
Sheboygan Lutheran would get the game back to a tie with about 4 minutes remaining but a good run down the stretch to halftime punctuated by a Cameron Lipinski 3 at the buzzer to send C-FC to the locker room up 6.
The second half would go back and forth with Sheboygan Lutheran cutting the lead down to 2 or 3 a few times, but every time they did Cochrane-Fountain City would find a few points and extend the lead.
The Pirates were led by Porter Ehrat with 18 points 6 rebounds 6 assists, Lipinski would add 17, Reed Schmidtknecht would add 8.
Sheboygan Lutheran was led by Brennen Hackbarth with 28 points and 11 rebounds, Zach Leonard and Oliver Leibham both added 7.
This is Cochrane-Fountain City’s 1st WIAA Boys Basketball State Title in only their second appearance ever at the state tournament.
