Colby (OnFocus) – Weather was able to delay the contest between Spencer/Columbus and Colby, but when the game got underway Saturday morning, Colby proved to be no match for the Rockets as the Hornets pitched a shutout 38-0 win over S/C.
Colby took a 16-0 first quarter lead as Caden Healy scored on runs of 14 and 1 yards.
“We tip our caps to Colby as they certainly proved they are one of the best teams in the state. They are very physical and well-coached and their players played hard and with class.,” said Spencer/Columbus Head Coach Jason Gorst.
Brent Jeske ran for a 14 yard touchdown and threw a 11 yard touchdown to Brody Decker in the second quarter.
Mass Voss capped off the Hornets’ scoring with a 1 yard run in the third quarter.
Colby outgained S/C 251 yards to 45 yards.
“We were proud of the effort our guys put forth, but we have to continue to work to become a better football team. We will learn from the mistakes we made and quickly move on to our next opponent,” Gorst explained. “Our goal remains the same to be a better team at season’s end than we are right now.”
