Colby Falls to Eau Claire Regis, Drops to Second in the Cloverbelt

The Colby Hornets had all they could handle with the Eau Claire Regis Ramblers as they fell 40-9.

Colby would get on the board first with a 24 yard field goal from Harley Schmeltzer.

After trading turnovers, Regis would score on a 2 yard touchdown run from Gus Theisen to take a 7-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Colby would get the lead back on a 2 yard touchdown run from Gavino Lopez, they would miss the 2 point conversion, but took a 9-3 lead with just under 9:00 left in the second.

Both teams would trade possessions until Regis would get a 5 yard touchdown run from Hayden Reinders to take a 14-9 halftime lead.

After halftime, Regis would start pouring it on, just a minute and a half into the second half, Theisen would run it in from 45 yards out. Three minutes later Tristan Root would connect with Gabe Chenal for a 77 yard touchdown pass. They would also convert the two-point conversion.

Less than a minute later Bennett Seelen would throw a 53 yard touchdown pass to Root to take a 37-9 lead with 6:27 left in the 3rd.

The offense would slow down until Root hit a 44 yard field goal early in the fourth quarter to take a 40-9 lead.

Colby would get one last chance late in the 4th including three consecutive 4th and goal plays after 3 straight plays were flagged for pass interference, two on Regis and one on Colby before a Roman Schmitt pass would fall incomplete in the endzone.
