Fans came out in big numbers to read about top performers in our area last week, with over 5400 views of the article. Voters selected Ivan Haemer of Colby Football as the OnFocus Athlete of the Week, who collected 394 votes.
Kalyn Schueller of Stratford Volleyball earned second place, earning 346 votes.
Denzel Sutton of Thorp Football was third with 222 votes.

OnFocus Athlete of the Week, August 20 – August 26
- Denzel Sutton, Thorp Football – Thorp opened the season with a bang, and Sutton turned with a season-opening performance worth noting. Sutton completed 9 of 11 passes for 300 yards and five touchdowns, and rushed 7 times for 122 yards and a score to lead Thorp to a 78-46 win over Prairie Farm.
- Ivan Haemer, Colby Football – Colby moved to 2-0 on the season with a 46-14 win over Spencer/Columbus, and Haemer led the charge in the Hornets’ punishing run game. Haemer had four rushing touchdowns of 2, 34, 6 and 12 yards, and collected 136 yards rushing.
- Ava Fredriksen, Stevens Point Girls Golf – Fredriksen shot an 88 and earned medalist honors for the Panthers at the WVC Golf Meet, held at Bull’s Eye Country Club in Wisconsin Rapids.
- Yaroslav Myshchyshyn , Lakeland Union Boys Soccer – Myshchyshyn led the Thunderbirds with four goals in their 5-2 win over Lakeland.
- Kalyn Schueller, Stratford Football – Schueller led the Tigers with 52 kills, 57 digs and 8 aces and the Tigers claimed the title at the Marathon Early Bird Tournament.
