Colby Team, Three Individuals qualify for D2 State Cross Country

The Colby Hornet Girls Team along with Savanah Schley and Avery Horvath of Loyal/Greenwood and Neillsville qualified for the Division 2 State Cross Country Meet being held at Colby High School.

The Colby Hornet Girls won the sectional with a score of 46, one point ahead of 2nd place Aquinas Catholic from La Crosse. Colby finishers included Willow Oehmichen in 7th overall, Daisey Feiten in 11th, Trinity Severson in 16th, Mercedes Sarkkinen in 22nd, Casey Reynolds in 27th, Reagan Schraufnagel in 35th, Payton Roth in 36th.

Individual Qualifiers from the girl’s race included Kayci Martensen finished 1st and Hannah Martensen finished 2nd both of Southwestern/Cuba City/Benton, Meg Katzung of Prairie du Chien finished 4th, Savannah Schley of Loyal/Greenwood finished 5th, Macey Tauscher of West Salem finished 6th.

On the Boy’s side, Aquinas won the sectional with a score of 34, West Salem finished second with a score of 46. Neillsville finished 4th with a score of 104.

Individual qualifiers include John Wells of Platteville finished 4th, Jose Monroy of Arcadia finished 6th, Skylar Drinka of Neillsville finished 8th, Sam Ruiter of GET finished 9th, and Avrey Horvath of Loyal/Greenwood finished 10th.

The WIAA Division 2 State Cross Country Championships will be held at Colby High School Saturday October 31st.
