OWEN – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic baseball team dominated Owen-Withee in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division doubleheader on Thursday, winning both games by the 10-run rule in five innings.
Columbus won Game 1 14-2 and the second game 15-3, knocking out 20 hits in the twinbill.
Columbus Catholic is now 5-9 overall and 5-6 in the Cloverbelt East. Owen-Withee falls to 1-10 and 1-9 in conference play.
Noah Taylor struck out three and walked four in a complete-game effort in the opener for the Dons.
Columbus started the game with a six-run first inning to set the tone, and finished it off with a five-run fifth.
Eden Jacobsen had a single, two doubles and three RBIs, and Brock Bennington had a triple and three RBIs to lead the Columbus offense. Jaden NIenast also had two hits and scored twice in the win.
In Game 2, Ethan Meece earned the win with five strikeouts in the three innings.
Nineast had two hits and three RBIs, Bryce Fuerlinger had two hits and two RBIs, and Taylor scored three times for the Dons.
Columbus Catholic plays at Granton on Friday.
