Columbus Catholic basketball teams sweep Pacelli at Diocesan Showcase

LA CROSSE – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic basketball teams swept games from Stevens Point Pacelli at the Diocesan Showcase on Saturday at Aquinas High School.

The Columbus girls beat Pacelli 39-26 and the boys took care of the Cardinals 74-53.

In the girls contest, Hailey Roehl scored all 10 of her points in the first half for the Dons (7-3) and was the only player to reach double figures in the win.

The Dons’ boys took a 40-21 lead into halftime as they took control early.

Jarred Mandel scored 28 points to lead the way for Columbus, which remains perfect at 8-0 this season.

The Columbus girls host Greenwood on Tuesday and Loyal on Friday, and the boys return to action Thursday at home against Gilman in their final games before Christmas break.
