Columbus Catholic boys seventh, Spencer girls eighth at Cloverbelt Conference Cross Country Meet

CADOTT – Chippewa Falls McDonell won the boys team title and Colby/Abbotsford earned the girls title at the 2018 Cloverbelt Conference Cross Country Meet on Saturday at Cadott High School.

The Columbus Catholic boys had a top-20 finish from Bryce Fuerlinger to finish seventh and Spencer was 12th in the team standings.

On the girls side, Spencer finished eighth and Columbus Catholic was ninth.

Fuerlinger finished 17th in 19:22.3 to lead the Dons’ boys. Cole Noreen added a 31st-place finish in 20:14.2.

Spencer’s top runner was Ashton Ackman, who took 41st in 21:17.0.

Emily Wehrman was 25th (25:02) and Kaylee Wehrman was 34th (25:44) to lead the Spencer girls.

The Columbus Catholic girls top finishers were Melanie Lang, who was 43rd in 26:20 and Janelle Haupt, who finished 44th in 26:24.8.

Columbus Catholic and Spencer will compete in the WIAA Division 3 sectional on Saturday at Standing Rock Park in Stevens Point.
