Columbus Catholic girls basketball cruises past Spencer

SPENCER – Hailey Roehl drilled five 3-pointers and scored 17 points to help lead the Marshfield Columbus Catholic girls basketball team to a 53-21 win over Spencer on Thursday night at Spencer High School.

The Dons raced out to a 28-8 lead after a dominating first half and held the Rockets to just 13 points in the second half to complete the victory.

Columbus Catholic is now 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division, while Spencer falls to 1-3 and 1-2 in conference play.

Roehl had five of the Dons’ eight 3-pointers, and Maren Seefluth added 11 points for the Dons.

Spencer was held to just eight made baskets. Leah Zastrow, Hannah Zastrow and Promise Ngirwe each had four points for the Rockets.

Columbus Catholic will play at Northland Lutheran on Monday and hosts Granton on Tuesday.

Spencer’s next game is Tuesday at home against Greenwood.
