MARSHFIELD – Jen Wendler scored 21 points and Brianna Simington added 15 to lift Owen-Withee to a 52-49 win over Marshfield Columbus Catholic in a Cloverbelt Conference girls basketball game Friday night at Columbus Catholic High School.
Columbus Catholic falls to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the Cloverbelt East, while Owen-Withee improves to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
The Blackhawks pulled ahead 31-24 by halftime and held off a second-half charge from Columbus Catholic to win by three.
Addie Baierl scored nine of her 16 points in the first half, but was held to just one basket and five free throws in the second half for the Dons. Maren Seefluth added 11 points and Hailey Roehl had 10 for Columbus.
The Dons were hurt by poor free throw shooting as they missed 13 of their 21 attempts.
Columbus Catholic hosts Gilman on Thursday.
