Marshfield Columbus Catholic senior setter Brooke Neider was named Player of the Year and five other seniors from the Dons earned spots on the 2018 All-Cloverbelt Conference East Division Volleyball Team, as voted on by the eight conference coaches following the season.

Neider earned first-team all-conference honors for the second year in a row, as did all-around player Maren Seefluth. Annie Baierl, another Dons’ senior, was also a first-team selection as a libero. She was a second-team pick last year.

Neider had 865 assists, 258 digs and 49 service aces this season, finishing her career with 1,515 assists for Columbus Catholic, which won its second-straight Cloverbelt East championship.

“She worked hard with our six hitters and would put the ball where they needed it to ensure a kill,” Columbus Catholic coach Kat Egle said. “Brooke was our team floor captain and would keep the team playing strong by running our quick offense. She is a natural athlete and it is so fun to coach a setter that can put the ball effortlessly to wherever we needed it.”

Seefluth had 216 kills, 328 digs and 46 aces for the Dons, wrapping up her four-year varsity career with back-to-back first-team all-conference honors. Baierl had 465 digs and 65 aces to lead Columbus in both categories.

“Every season Maren came back stronger and more consistent,” Egle said. “Her goal was to work on her receiving and she nailed it with passing a 2.0 or higher in a lot of our matches.

“Annie is the type of kid that never wants the drill to be over. he wants the pass to be perfect every time. Annie is a great talker on the court and helped our hitters this year by telling them where to hit.”

Kenzie Hansen and Kati Turchi were second-team picks, and Jessica Jakopin was an honorable mention choice for the Dons. All three are seniors.
Hansen led the Dons with 219 kills and a 0.363 hitting percentage, Turchi had 198 kills and 205 digs, and Jakopin led the team with 59 blocks and added 130 kills.

Spencer had one all-conference pick as senior Chloe Drews was an honorable mention selection.
