Columbus Catholic enters the tournament as the #2 seed, boasting a season record of 27-15. Their journey to the semifinals started with a 3-0 win over Augusta in the Regional Semifinal, a 3-0 victory over Athens High School in the Regional Final. Then a 3-1 win over Gilman in the Sectional Semifinal, and a 3-0 win over Royall in the Sectional Final.
Newman Catholic, the #3 seed, holds a season record of 29-13. Their path to the semifinals started with a 3-1 win over Oneida Nation, then a 3-0 win against Hilbert in the Regional Final, a 3-0 win over Green Bay NEW Lutheran in the Sectional Semifinal, and a 3-1 win over Florence in the Sectional Final.
The two teams previously faced off on September 21 during the McDonell Central Diocesan Tournament, where Columbus Catholic secured a 2-0 victory with set scores of 25-19 and 25-22. This history adds an extra layer of anticipation to their upcoming semifinal encounter.
