ROSHOLT – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic girls basketball team will continue its season at least one more day after upending Rosholt 53-37 in a WIAA Division 5 regional semifinal on Friday night at Rosholt High School.
The Dons (14-9), seeded fifth, will take on No. 1 seed Wausau Newman Catholic (21-3) in a D-5 regional final at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Newman. The winner earns a berth in a sectional semifinal Feb. 28 at Wausau West against either Edgar (12-11) or Wisconsin Rapids Assumption (19-5).
Rosholt ends its season with a 15-6 record.
Addie Baierl hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 12 points, and Katie Hall and Maren Seefluth each added 11 for the Dons.
No Rosholt player reached double figures in scoring. Ashley Studzinski had eight points to lead the Hornets.
Both teams struggled from the free throw line in the game where 42 fouls were called. Rosholt was just 10 of 21, while the Dons went 9 of 20 from the line.
