Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) The Common Council considered two applicants to serve as alderman for the unexpired District 7 term at its Monday meeting. The candidates were Adam Fischer and Ardell Klein.

Fischer currently serves on a number of committees and boards including the Wood County Board of Supervisors, the Wood County Highway, Infrastructure, Recreational Committee, and the Wood County Executive Committee, among others. From 2014-2017, he was Executive Director of the Central Wisconsin State Fair.

Ardell Klein is a retired longtime Marshfield resident, has served on the Parks and Recreation Committee and was a member of the Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department for five years.

Alderman Tom Witzel made the motion to suspend the rules to select a candidate immediately, instead of waiting until the Oct. 29 meeting, so the individual could have access to budget materials and represent District 7 in the budget process.

The Council voted 7-2 to appoint Adam Fischer to the District 7 seat. He will fulfill the term until the third Tuesday in April 2020.
