Common Council to Hear Complaint Against Mayor McManus

City Hall Releases Information on Hearing

The City of Marshfield has released information pertaining to an upcoming hearing to hear a citizen complaint against Mayor Bob McManus.

The notice is as follows:

“PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on Friday, March 19, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Marshfield City Hall, the Marshfield Common Council will conduct a public hearing pursuant to Section 17.16(3) concerning verified charges filed by Andy Keogh dated January 28, 2021 asking for the removal of the Mayor and stating reasons for removal.

At this hearing, Dr. Keogh and the Mayor will have the full opportunity to be heard, including presenting witnesses and evidence, and cross-examining witnesses. The Common Council shall also have the opportunity to ask questions and call witnesses.

The Common Council has also scheduled this matter for hearing on Monday, March 22, 2021, at 5:00 p.m., and Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. at the same location. The Common Council may schedule additional dates if necessary, in order to allow for a full and complete opportunity for the parties to be heard and for the Mayor to present his defense.

The Common Council may during the course of these hearing convene into closed session for one or more of the following purposes: deliberating concerning a case which was the
subject of a quasi-judicial hearing, Section 19.85(a) of the Wisconsin Statutes; conferring with legal counsel with respect to litigation, Section 19.85(g) of the Wisconsin Statutes. The Common Council may thereinafter convene into open session.

NOTE: The City will enforce a COVID-19 protocol, such that strict capacity and social distancing requirements will be adhered to. All attendees will be required to wear a mask.”
