Marshfield (OnFocus) – Cody and Amaidani Meyers were married on July 11, 2020 and decided to use Marshfield’s historic William H. Upham House as the backdrop for their wedding photos.

Cody, a Marshfield native, had known about the Upham House’s history. But, Amaidani, originally from New York City, had never heard of the historical site. She noted that she “has always been very interested in touring historical sites and really wanted a historic mansion to take wedding pictures in.”

The Upham House ended up being the perfect backdrop for their photos.

When asked about why they were drawn to the Upham House, Amaidani said, “I was driving around with my mom and Cody’s mom trying to find nice places where we could take wedding pictures and came across the Upham House. We took a tour of the mansion and fell in love with its beauty and the rose garden. I took pictures of the rose garden and the outside of the house and told Cody all about it. We knew it was the perfect place for our pictures.”

Cody and Amaidani were able to use the rose garden and exterior of the mansion for their pictures. The couple is extremely happy with their portraits and said, “Our photographer, Leslie Schoen, had a lot of good ideas for showcasing the exterior of the mansion and our love.”

Kim Krueger, Coordinator of the North Wood County Historical Society, enjoys seeing the Upham House used for such celebrations.

“The North Wood County Historical Society is very happy to have couples use our yard, rose garden, house exterior and interior for not only wedding photography, but other life celebrations as well,” she said. “We have even had weddings in our garden.”

Krueger notes there is a fee/donation requested depending on what the event is. She encourages other people to contact the Upham House if they would like to use it as a backdrop for their event.
