As we head into Week 7 of the WIAA Football Season it is time to take a look at the Football Playoff situation with three weeks left in the season. We will break these down conference by conference. Today we do the Central Wisconsin Large Conference.
In
Amherst (4-2, 4-0 CWC-L)
Stratford (4-2, 4-0 CWC-L)
Out
None
Likely
Shiocton (4-2, 2-2 CWC-L) We classify Shiocton as likely as they do have two games left against the bottom two teams in the conference Nekoosa and Spencer/Columbus. One win in those two makes Shiocton playoff eligible, two secures a spot.
Work to do
Weyauwega-Fremont (4-2, 2-2 CWC-L) The Warhawks are looking to get back into the playoffs for the first time in over a decade, and just need one more win to be playoff eligible, they have a tough game against Stratford this week, before games against Wittenberg-Birnamwood and Manawa to wrap the season up.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood (4-2, 2-2 CWC-L) The Chargers have already played the top two teams in the conference, so have a pretty good path to the playoffs. They need two wins out of their final three to secure a playoff spot. They play Shiocton, Weyauwega-Fremont, and Nekoosa. One win would make them playoff eligible. While not an elimination game the Week 8 W-B @ W-F game will give the winner a huge leg up.
Unlikely
Spencer/Columbus (0-6, 0-4 CWC-L) It has been a tough year for the Rockets. But they are not eliminated from a playoff spot just yet. They will need to win their final three games against Manawa, Stratford, and Shiocton to become playoff eligible.
Nekoosa (1-5, 1-3 CWC-L) While not quite as bad of a spot as Spencer/Columbus, Nekoosa has a tough road ahead of them to get in the playoffs, they need to win two of their final three to become playoff eligible, all three to secure a spot. They play at Amherst then home to Shiocton and Wittenberg-Birnamwood to wrap up the season.
Manawa (3-3, 1-3 CWC-L) Manawa needs two wins to be playoff eligible, the Wolves play winless Spencer/Columbus this week before playing Amherst and Weyauwega Fremont.
