WESTON – The Marshfield girls basketball team had a comeback attempt fall just short as it lost to D.C. Everest 44-42 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Tuesday night at the Greenheck Fieldhouse at D.C. Everest High School.
Marshfield was held to just 16 points in the first half and trailed by six at halftime, but kept it close only to fall at the end by just a basket.
Kaydee Johnson made all eight of her free throw attempts and finished with 14 points to lead the Tigers (3-5, 1-3 Wisconsin Valley Conference). Jenna Jakobi added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
Three players scored in double figures for D.C. Everest (4-4, 2-1 WVC) as Alexis Wojnowiak had 12 points, and Hanna Stuedemann and Malorie Schmoll each scored 11 in the victory.
Marshfield will play a nonconference game at Oshkosh West on Friday.
