Both teams were strong on the hill Friday, but D.C. Everest Evergreens Varsity defeated Merrill Varsity Bluejay 3-1. D.C. Everest Evergreens Varsity pitchers allowed just five hits to Merrill Varsity Bluejay.

In the first inning, D.C. Everest Evergreens Varsity got their offense started when Nate Langbehn drew a walk, scoring one run.

Langbehn was the winning pitcher for D.C. Everest Evergreens Varsity. The righthander lasted six innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out 13. Cuyler Soppe threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Soppe recorded the last three outs to earn the save for D.C. Everest Evergreens Varsity.

Brady Kanitz took the loss for Merrill Varsity Bluejay. The southpaw went five innings, allowing three runs on one hit and striking out seven.

Andrew Cotter and Jake Vercimak all had one hit to lead D.C. Everest Evergreens Varsity. D.C. Everest Evergreens Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Cotter had the most chances in the field with 12.
