Voting for the OnFocus Athlete of the Week saw four entrants gather significant support, and it was the duo of Rhinelander Boys Swimming’s Daniel Gillingham and Carter Gaber which picked up the title as OnFocus Athletes of the Week, February 5 to February 11, collecting 386 votes.
Taking second place was the duo of Kaden Wiese and Mateo Lopez of Colby Boys Basketball with 286 votes. Right behind in third place was Marshfield Boys Swimming and Diving’s Alik Martin, picking up 284 votes.
Fourth place went to Cadott Girls Basketball’s Elly Eiler with 168 votes.

OnFocus Athlete of the Week, February 5 to February 11
- William Gargulak, SPASH Boys Swimming and Diving/Emma Jossie, Stevens Point Girls Basketball –Gargulak took first in the 100 butterfly at the Hudson sectionals, and is headed to state. Jossie scored 32 points in the Panthers’ 68-67 double overtime win over Marshfield, which clinched at least a share of the Wisconsin Valley Conference title.
- Alik Martin, Marshfield Boys Swimming and Diving – Martin punched his ticket to state, and broke his own record in diving in the process, with an amazing score of 450.85
- Daniel Gillingham/Carter Gaber, Rhinelander Boys Swimming – Gillingham and Gaber were members of two of the three Hodag relay teams that qualified for state, and the duo also punched their tickets to state in two individual events at state.
- Kaden Wiese/Mateo Lopez, Colby Boys Basketball – Wiese led the Hornets with 16 points and Lopez scored 15 points in their 66-54 win over Columbus Catholic. Colby holds a two game lead in the Cloverbelt East with two games remaining, ahead of a trio of 9-3 teams(Neillsville, Owen-Withee and Columbus Catholic) Colby will clinch the title with a win at Neillsville or at home against Owen-Withee.
- Elly Eiler, Cadott Girls Basketball – Eiler scored 25 points in the Hornets’ 62-57 win over Fall Creek, pushing Eiler past the 1000 point career scoring plateau at Cadott.
