Davin Stoffel’s Triple Double Propels Mosinee in Win over Unbeaten(#1 D3) Brillion

Mosinee vs. Brillion: Won 54-53

Mosinee would take it to the road tonight and travel to Brillion for a non-conference matchup. Brillion is ranked #1 in Division 3 with a 22-0 record. Mosinee got on the board early with a pull-up from 15 feet by Keagen Jirschele. Davin Stoffel later comes down with a board and puts it back for two. Mosinee up 4-2. Stoffel would get the next four points with a layup and a power move to get the score to 8-12 Brillion. Garrett Shupe would get fouled while going to the rim and he would make 1 of 2 at the line. 9-12 Brillion. Jirschele floats in for a layup to get within one of Brillion at 11-12. Shupe would make a cut and get an assist from Stoffel for a bucket at the rim. 13-16 Brillion. Blake Nicols was able to cut and get open for a bucket. Mosinee down 15-18. Davin Stoffel with some razzle dazzle for two in the lane. Mosinee is down 17 to Brillion 22. Stoffel was able to clean up the boards on the next play to get two more. Mosinee 19 to Brillion 24. David Haskins made a great backdoor cut for a layup to get within seven of the lead. Mosinee 21 to Brillion 28. Keagen Jirschele was able to dribble through the lane and work his way around for a four-foot jumper to put the score at Mosinee 23 to Brillion 33. Aidan Shaughnessy finished a fast break to get two more points for Mosinee to complete the first half at 25-33 Brillion.

Mosinee was able to come out of the half with some fire. The first bucket of the half was the only three for the night by Blake Nichols to get the score to 28-35 Brillion. Davin Stoffel would get to the line on two straight possessions and he would knock down four of them for a 32-37 Brillion lead. Keagen Jirschele with a great reverse layup to get Mosinee within three. 34-37 Brillion. Keagen would follow that play with another layup and finish on the left side. Mosinee 36-39. Stoffel would continue to play tough in the post and work for a tough two. Brillion is still up 38-41. Landen Thomer would then attack the lane on the right side and finish at the rim for two. Mosinee 40 to Brillion 43. Stoffel would provide another assist to Nichols for an easy finish. Mosinee 42 to Brillion 45. Davin Stoffel with a tough reverse layup to get Mosinee within one at 44-45. Blake Nichols would get out on a fastbreak for a layup to get Mosinee its first lead since the start of the game. Mosinee 46 to Brillion 45. Keagen Jirschele would apply full-court pressure and get himself a steal to put Mosinee ahead 48-45. Keagen Jirschele would get another layup with less than 3 minutes remaining. Mosinee up 50-47. Mosinee was able to work some time off the clock to get Brillion to extend their defense. Stoffel was able to hit Jirschele for a bucket to get Mosinee up 52-47. Mosinee would lose the lead with 22 seconds left at 52-53 Brillion. After a timeout, Mosinee was able to create a play that got some action for a Stoffel touch. He was able to catch a lob pass and drive to the right to feed Landen Thomer for a reverse layup with 6.1 seconds left and a Mosinee lead at 54-53. Brillion drew up a full-court play that got them a last-second three to only have Davin Stoffel get a piece of the shot to end the game with a Mosinee win at 54-53.

Mosinee would give Brillion its first loss of the season. Mosinee was led by Davin Stoffel with 18 points,19 rebounds, and 10 assists. Keagen Jirschele with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals. Blake Nichols with 9 points, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Landen Thomer with 4 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Garrett Shupe with 3 points and 6 rebounds. Aidan Shaughnessy with 2 points and 3 rebounds. David Haskin with 2 points to finish out the scoring for Mosinee. Mosinee is scheduled to play at Lakeland this Thursday at 7:15.
