Nothing beats a diesel truck for heavy hauling, but if the 60-grand price tag for a new vehicle isn’t an option, Davis Auto Sales has an easy solution.
One of the few dealerships around that deals exclusively in diesel trucks, the business offers a variety of 30-40 used vehicles at any given time for $15,000 or less.
“It’s our niche,” said Donna Davis-Yaun, who operates the business with her son, Kyle.
First opened in 1983, Davis Auto Sales moved four years ago from central Marshfield to a few miles south of the city on State Road 80. The extra space has allowed an expansion of the number of trucks offered on the lot with even more expansion planned for the future.
Their trucks come from as many as 28 different states outside of Wisconsin, which means they’re rust-free. After replacement of the rims and tires, the trucks are ready to be looked at on the lot or online at DavisAutoSalesWi.com. Duramax, Cummins, and PowerStroke are offered.
She recommends calling ahead to make sure a truck listed online is still available or to ask about a specific vehicle. Each truck has anywhere from 250,000-600,000 miles, but since they’re diesel, they’re made to handle it.
“As long as you take care of it, it lasts a long time,” said Donna. “We have a good reputation.”
Since there aren’t many diesel dealerships in the state, Davis Auto Sales regularly gets customers from several hours away. The business doesn’t put any pressure on those who’d like to take a look around the lot, and visitors can even do so outside of office hours just to see what’s offered. Ask about taking a test drive.
