CURTISS, WI (OnFocus) – At 2:13am this morning OWC Fire and EMS was dispatched for a structure fire in the Village of Curtiss.
Fire units arrived on scene and found a feed mill with heavy smoke and flames showing through the roof in the middle of the building.
MABAS Box Alarm 52-1-1 was called, bringing in resources from not only Clark County but also surrounding counties.
During the fire, Central Fire was dispatched for hay on fire in a shed.
“We released units to respond to that fire. We also had a medical call as well,” OWC Fire and EMS stated.
Hwy E was closed during the fire due to all the emergency vehicles and the safety of all the personnel.
“Though there was heavy damage to the feed mill, it was a great save by everyone that responded we were able to stop the fire from burning the mill portion and also the part of the building that housed equipment and vehicles,” they added.
They were assisted by CCSO, Clark County Dispatch, Clark County Hwy Dept, Curtiss DPW, Abbottsford DPW, HAAS and Sons, Central, Stetsonville, Thorp, Stratford, Stanley, Boyd, Greenwood, Neillsville, Loyal, Chippewa Fire Dist, andSpencer Fire Departments.
Crews cleared the scene at around 11am and OWC units were back in service at around 1pm after getting equipment cleaned and ready for service.
At this time, there is no dollar amount and the cause is still under investigation. They would like to thank all the emergency services that helped in any way possible.
“It was a large scene with a-lot of hard work and great team work.”
They would like to thank McDonald’s of Abbotsford and the Curtiss Travel Plaza for the food and refreshments during the fire.
“Our thoughts go out to the owners this is a huge loss financially and to the Curtiss area,” they said.
