(OnFocus) DMV fee increases for annual car registrations and vehicle title fees are now in effect, starting October 1. These changes are part of Wisconsin’s 2019-2021 biennial budget.
Vehicle title fees jumped from $69.50 to $164.50. The cost of a title transfer after the death of a spouse, and for low-speed vehicles, increased from $62 to $157.
Annual automobile registration went up from $75 to $85. Hybrid electric vehicles will be applied a $75 surcharge, which is collected when the registration fee is paid.
Registration fees for trailers, light trucks, and truck tractors under 8,000 pounds have also increased. A full list of these changes can be found on the WisDOT website here.
