MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Buster is a 12-week old Norwegian Elkhound that needs your help! He was recently surrendered to Fetch Foster and Rescue after his Femur was broken from being stepped on by his previous owner 4 weeks ago.
After several different surgical consultations, the conclusion is that he needs a FHO (femoral head osteotomy) to save his leg. However because of the severity of the break, it’s very possible the only option is amputation. Also since he is a puppy, his bones grow at an exponential rate and his body has already tried to heal the break. So the longer we wait for surgery, the more bone regrowth there will be, and the harder a FHO will be to obtain.
