In a thrilling conclusion to the 2024 WIAA Division 5 State Volleyball Tournament, the top-seeded E.C. Immanuel Lutheran Lancers secured their first state title by defeating the second-seeded Columbus Catholic Dons in four sets: 25-10, 23-25, 25-19, 25-21.
**Match Highlights:**
The Lancers showcased a balanced offensive attack, with four players recording double-digit kills. Gabi Radichel led the team with 20 kills, followed by Audrey Arndt with 15, and both Cheyenne Wales and Sophia Carstensen contributing 10 each. Setter Leah Thompson orchestrated the offense effectively, amassing 45 assists. Defensively, Carstensen anchored the back row with 24 digs, while Arndt added 19. At the net, the Lancers combined for 8 blocks, with Arndt contributing 3 solo blocks.
For the Dons, outside hitter Shelby Spata delivered a standout performance, recording 14 kills and setting a new WIAA state record with 10 service aces in a single match. Aubrey Waldhauser added 8 kills, and setter Alayna Egle provided 18 assists. Libero Delia Trader led the defense with 19 digs. Despite their efforts, the Dons were unable to overcome the Lancers’ consistent play.

The E.C. Immanuel Lutheran Lancers concluded their season with an impressive 38-4 overall record, including a perfect 10-0 mark in the Dairyland Conference. Their journey to the state championship was marked by dominant performances, reflecting their status as the tournament’s top seed.
The Columbus Catholic Dons finished the season with a 26-16 overall record. Competing in the Cloverbelt – East Conference, they demonstrated resilience and skill, earning the second seed in the state tournament. Their path to the championship match showcased their determination and competitive spirit.
