STURGEON BAY, WI (OnFocus) – A Wisconsin-based company is helping to raise money for medical supplies and other resources for Ukrainian residents who are enduring a war with Russia.
Door County Candles is owned and operated by Christiana (Gorchynsky) Trapani who is 100% Ukrainian.
Russia invaded Ukraine last week and since then, has bombed Ukrainian cities and surrounded cities preventing evacuations. Many countries including U.S. President Joe Biden have sworn off the Russian attack as “unprovoked” and “unnecessary.”
Citizens have been fleeing the country in hopes of avoiding the war and have taken refuge in Poland, Slovakia and other European countries.
This event has hit Trapani deeply as many of her friends and family still reside in Ukraine. Trapani has decided to help her native country by selling a special Ukraine candle with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Razom for Ukraine, a fundraising organization that is helping to bring medical supplies and more to Ukraine.
Candles for sale are blue and yellow like the Ukrainian flag, are 16 oz and sell for $29.95. The company says orders will be processed and shipped out in two weeks.
