Voters turned out in huge numbers in the voting for the OnFocus Athlete of the Week, October 31 – November 6. Nearly 2000 votes werecast, and four area athletes collected over 200 votes.
Dorci Walker of Columbus Catholic Volleyball picked up the title, with 646 votes. Finishing right behind with 643 votes was the duo of Jenna Breitbach / Eloise Cooper from SPASH Girls Swimming.
Alexis Jonas of Mosinee Volleyball picked up 411 votes to take third place.
Fourth place went to Colby Football’s Brent Jeske, garnering 238 votes.
OnFocus Athlete of the Week, October 31 – November 6
- Dorci Walker, Columbus Catholic Volleyball – Walker led the Dons to a successful 28-11 season and a trip to the sectional finals. She produced outstanding numbers all year long, ending up with 570 kills, second in the state.
- Brent Jeske, Colby Football – Jeske rushed fo 211 yards on 18 carries and had 4 touchdowns for the Hornets in their 45-19 win over Marawood foe Auburndale. In the Level 3 Playoff win, Jeske scored on touchdown runs of 72,3,1 and 5 yards.
- Jenna Breitbach / Eloise Cooper, Stevens Point Girls Swimming – Breitbach took first in the 50 yard freestyle and Cooper was first in the 100 yard backstroke at the Wisconsin Rapids Division 1 sectional, and are headed to state.
- Myles Burkett, Franklin Football – Burkett turned in an amazing showing Friday, as top seeded Franklin downed Bay Port 35-7 in Level 3 of the WIAA Football Playoffs. The Badger recruit completed 16 of 19 passes for 353 yards and three touchdowns, the first one a 93 yard strike to open the scoring in the first minute of play.
- Alexis Jonas, Mosinee Volleyball (nominated online) – Jonas had an outstanding season for Mosinee, collecting 835 assists, and was a key contributor to the 33-4 team that made it to the sectional finals.
