Changes Go Into Effect 2018-19 School Year
The Marshfield School Board is raising the prices of school lunches starting next year.
“In the past, we used to have more local control in how we set school lunch prices,” stated Finance Committee Chair Amber Leifheit. “Now the DPI [Department of Public Instruction] says you must raise it by at least 10 cents per year until our average meal costs reaches the difference between the federal free and federal paid lunch costs.”
Lunch Prices will be increasing at the district’s elementary schools to $2.60 from $2.45, the middle school rate will increase to $2.75 from $2.60, and the high school rate will increase to $2.90 from $2.70. There is no change to the cost for breakfast.
According to Leifheit, there was no increase for the 2017-2018 school year.
The board adopted the new prices unanimously and they will go into effect for the 2018-2019 school year.
