Driver Identified in Plainfield Bus Case

The driver who struck and killed a 6-year-old waiting to board her school bus on Hwy 73 southeast of Plainfield on Monday morning is identified as 76-year-old Carl Mullenix.

The 6-year-old died at the scene. She was a Kindergarten student at Tri-County Area School District. Her 4-year-old sister suffered minor injuries and is recovering at home.

A release by the Waushara County Sheriff’s department stated that Mullenix was driving on the shoulder of the road when he struck the two sisters who were waiting to board a school bus, which had stopped with flashing lights activated.
