Ducklings Bring Joy to Stoney River Memory Care Residents

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – A mother duck and her twelve ducklings are enjoying luxury living in Stoney River Marshfield’s beautiful courtyard.

“Our residents are really enjoying having the ducklings and the mama duck here,” said Meranda Lelonek, Lifestyle Specialist at Stoney River. “It’s giving them an opportunity for engagement. They are going out to the courtyard a little bit more, and as we know, fresh air is so good for health.”

She added that many residents have a history of spending time in nature, and Stoney River therefore makes an effort to incorporate nature into their lives once residents enter assisted living.

Ordinance Officer Kayla Wolf checked on the mother duck and ducklings to ensure the enclosed courtyard was a good place for the family to grow up.

“The best possible outcome is for them to remain,” said Wolf. “In addition, the residents absolutely love these ducklings so it’s the best outcome for all parties involved.”
