Day one of the WIAA State Track Championships saw the Edgar Wildcats take second place in the team standings, Leah Zastrow of Spencer takes 2nd in the Pole Vault, tying the old state record.
Edgar finished with 41 points, 8 points behind team champion LaCrosse Aquinas. Edgar placed on the back of three gold medals in the 4×100, 4×200, and 4×400, and a second place in the 200 meters.
Leah Zastrow of Spencer tied the old state record in the Pole Vault with a jump of 11’9″. The new record was set by Reagan Sorensen of Unity with a jump of 12’3″.
Other big finishers for area athletes include Caden Decker of Athens won gold in the Pole Vault with a jump of 13’9″. Savannah Schley took the silver in the girls 400 meters with a time of 59.47.
