Abbotsford (OnFocus) – A game full of big plays saw Edgar blitz past Abbotsford in Marawood action, 54-0.

The Wildcats scored the first three times they touched the ball, all big plays.  Abbotsford took the opening kickoff and drove to the Edgar 45 yard line before turning the ball over on downs. On the Wildcats’ first play, Konnor Wolf connected with Kyle Brewster on a 55 yard bomb just two minutes into the game.

Following the kickoff, Edgar struck again, as Brady Lemmers recovered a stripped ball in the air and rambled 21 yards, giving Edgar a 12-0 lead.

Following a three and out by Abby, it was time for Edgar to score in a new way, this time from their punt team. Drew Guden received the punt at his 40 yard line, and with 7:15 left in the first quarter, raced for a 60 yard touchdown. A 20-0 Edgar lead was about to rise higher.

On Abbotsford’s next possession, the Wildcats’ Korbyn Bauman picked up a Falcons’ fumble and ran it in from 22 yards out.

Abbotsford then looked to be getting into the game as they methodically drove down the field before seeing their drive stalled deep in Edgar drive by an interception. Then Edgar’s Austin Dahlke carried it out to the Wildcats’ 22 on first down, setting up yet another big play.

This time, it was a running play that saw speedster Kyle Brewster take the handoff on a jet sweep around left end, galloping 78 yards for a score with 1:49 left in the opening quarter. Brewster added a 56 yard touchdown run midway into the second quarter to push the Edgar lead to 40-0.

The Wildcats scored once more in the half on Brewster’s third touchdown and again in the third quarter.

Brewster led all ball carries with 159 yards on three carries, all touchdowns, to go along with his punt return for a touchdown.

Ty Falteisek led Abbotsford with 79 yards on 19 carries.
