Marawood foes Edgar and Abbotsford each looked to fight back after Week 5 conference losses. Each made statements early on that they would rebound positively. It was Edgar, however, that used big plays throughout, claiming a 40-7 win and in sole possession of second place in the Marawood.
Edgar struck early following the opening kickoff. On the first play from scrimmage, junior running back Karter Butt outran the Abbotsford defense for a 73 yard touchdown. The extra point conversion was no good, and Edgar had a 6-0 lead.
After the Falcons turned the ball over on their opening possession, Edgar looked to take the lead, only to see Abbotsford junior Evan Reis pick off a pass and return inside Wildcats’ territory. The Falcons then capitalized, scoring on a 1 yard touchdown from JV Castillo, and Abby held a 7-6 lead.
It was then that the Wildcats showed they came to play.
Butt scored on a 20 yard run with 7:45 ledft in the second quarter to put Edgar up 12-7, before junior quarterback Teegan Streit took center stage. Streit collected a Falcons’ punt at his 25 yard line and with a wall sealed off on the right sideline, scampered untouched for a 75 yard touchdown with 3:31 left before halftime.
Streit then connected with sophomore Leyton Schuett on a 46 yard touchdown with 22 seconds left.
Streit continued to shine in the second half, connecting with junior tight end Brett Baumgartner for a 52 yard touchdown and Schuett on an 85 yard touchdown.

Streit completed 5 of 7 passes for 241 yards and three touchdowns.
Butt paced Edgar with 10 tackles and collected 101 yards on 8 carries.
