MARSHFIELD – Eight different players scored as the Marshfield boys soccer team whipped Merrill 8-0 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys soccer game Tuesday at Griese Park.

Will Fay scored just 2:42 into the game to get the scoring started for the Tigers (8-6-1, 5-3-1 WVC), and Kade McManus and Kyle Tremelling each added goals before halftime to make it 3-0.

Dawson Tysver scored on a penalty kick, and Sam Roherty, Elijah Hubler-Marti and Kevin Cassidy added goals for Marshfield. The Tigers also benefitted from a Merrill (2-10-2, 0-10 WVC) own goal.

Tommy Olson had three saves in goal, and Fay came in to earn two in the final 20 minutes and preserve the shutout for Marshfield.

“While it was a sloppy game overall, it was nice to get contributions on the scoresheet from a variety of players,” Marshfield coach Steve McCann said. “Merrill played hard and kept us working hard to preserve the shutout. It was Senior Night and it was nice to recognize the guys as they wrap up their careers. We have just 3 more regular season games, and it would be nice to put together an end of season run and finish strong.”

Marshfield hosts D.C. Everest at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Griese Park.
