Local Law Enforcement Responds to Threat

Marshfield Police Department’s Facebook page posted on January 11: Due to a current emergent situation, Lincoln Ave in the City of Marshfield is closed north of McMillan St and south of Shortess Dr. More information to follow.

There’s a possible explosive device- a suspicious looking device with a fuse- on Lincoln in the front yard that the homeowner noticed,” said Police Chief Rick Gramza. “Somebody had possibly made a threat against the home owner. We are still researching this.”

After receiving the report, MPD reached out to Marathon County Bomb Squad. They are currently on scene.

“From my understanding, they are having someone suit up and extract the item,” said Gramza. “We have evacuated the area just in case, but we feel there is nobody in harm’s way.”

Gramza encourages the public to stay away from the area. The department will notify of any updates through Facebook and other media.

The community should not be concerned. They are not at risk,” he said. “We are thoroughly investigating the situation and we’ll resolve it as quick as we can. We’ll then share as much information as we can.”
