ProVision Partners Lends Empty Grain Bin to Choir

Auburndale, WI (OnFocus) Choir students at Auburndale High School got to experience some neat acoustics when they traveled to an empty grain bin for practice.

“We don’t have a cathedral around here, but you can get the sound effects of a cathedral by singing it in a grain bin!” said choir teacher Celia Sturzl.

After getting the idea from a video online, Sturzl contacted ProVision Partners last spring to inquire whether any empty grain bins were available for her class. One would be ready in October, they said.

After a few reschedules, the class made it out on a sunny day to the nearby Cenex location and sang five songs, including the national anthem, “Amazing Grace,” and “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”

Inside the grain bin, their voices were transformed. “It was really cool,” Sturzl said. “The kids loved it.”

She plans to repeat the experience for choir students next year, if possible. “It’s cool to utilize what we have in the community,” she said.
