Everest Earns Walk-Off Win over Menomonie

D.C. Everest Evergreens Varsity seized victory in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a walk-off sacrifice fly at the end of the game to topple Mustangs. The game was tied at seven with D.C. Everest Evergreens Varsity batting in the bottom of the seventh when Jake Vercimak’s sac fly scored one run for D.C. Everest Evergreens Varsity.

D.C. Everest Evergreens Varsity earned the victory despite allowing Mustangs to score four runs in the fifth inning. Mustangs’s big inning was driven by a single by Owen Welch, by Kahne Johnson, and an error on a ball put in play by Isiah Birt.

D.C. Everest Evergreens Varsity got on the board in the first inning. Cayden Bangtson drove in one when Bangtson singled.

D.C. Everest Evergreens Varsity put up three runs in the sixth inning. D.C. Everest Evergreens Varsity put the pressure on, lead by by Noah Chmielewski and Colin Ebersold and a sac fly by Cuyler Soppe.

Cole O’Brien led things off on the pitcher’s mound for D.C. Everest Evergreens Varsity. O’Brien lasted four innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out three.

Treysen Witt started the game for Mustangs. Witt lasted five innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out four. Parker Verdon and Ben Bystol entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and one-third innings and one-third of an inning respectively.

Ebersold led D.C. Everest Evergreens Varsity with two hits in two at bats.

Caleb Rynes went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Mustangs in hits. Mustangs didn’t commit a single error in the field. Rynes had six chances in the field, the most on the team.
