(Marshfield, WI) On Thursday, December 3rd at approximately 6:00pm the Marshfield Police Department responded to the 800 block of E Harrison St after a family member found suspected explosive devices in the apartment of a 70-year-old Marshfield male.
The preliminary investigation indicated the presence of suspected pipe bombs.
Approximately one third of an apartment building was evacuated for all or part of the sixhour incident. The Marathon County Bomb Squad assisted with the safe removal of the suspected explosives. Supportive assistance was also provided by the Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department and WE Energies.
At this time there is no information that suggests the male intended to use the devices, however the investigation is still on-going. There are currently no known safety concerns for the community.
