Marshfield – Grant & Nasonville Elementary School will be hosting 30 students and 4 chaperones for their upcoming, two-week academy, Friends From Afar, running September 29th through October 10th.

These students are coming from Grant & Nasonville’s sister school, Ji Yang Experimental Primary School, in Zhangjiagang, China.

Academy offerings are provided through the Unified School District of Marshfield’s International Student Exchange Program. The program exists to bring together students of varying cultural and educational backgrounds. Integrating our international students into American culture provides a unique and rewarding experience for all parties involved.

Chinese students will be paired with American “buddies” of the same age and grade. They will shadow their American buddy and participate in daily school activities. Special day and evening events will be incorporated into this unique learning environment such as a day at the school forest and a trip to Seehafer Farms. Evening events reflect typical American pastimes such as bowling at Rose Bowl Lanes.

We are in great need of host families for a weekend home stay experience, October 4th-6th.

There is a $50 reimbursement for those who qualify. Should you be interested, please email Johneen Schwab: [email protected] to receive a host family application. Applicants are subject to a background check and a home visit.
