GRAND RAPIDS, WI (OnFocus) – A tragic house fire early Friday morning resulted in the deaths of two adult males at a residence on Boulder Circle in the Town of Grand Rapids, Wood County.
Emergency responders, including the Grand Rapids Police Department, United Ambulance, and Grand Rapids First Responders, were dispatched to 5721 Boulder Circle at approximately 2:00 a.m. after receiving a 911 call from an individual in distress. Upon arrival, officers observed smoke emanating from the residence, and the Grand Rapids Fire Department was immediately called to the scene.
Firefighters located an adult male inside the home with severe injuries. Despite prompt life-saving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. A second male was discovered deceased after the fire was extinguished. The residence was declared a total loss.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Authorities have not released the identities of the victims pending family notification.
Several agencies assisted in the response, including the Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department, Nekoosa Fire Department, Biron Fire Department, Rudolph Fire Department, Wood County Sheriff’s Department, Wood County Coroner, and the Wood County Fire Investigation Task Force, with additional support from Life Link medevac and the Department of Criminal Investigation Fire Marshalls.
